An upper level low will continue to develop rapidly across Oklahoma and Kansas bringing in enough energy for storms this afternoon across East Texas including the Houston/Galveston metro area, Tyler, and Texarkana. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has highlighted this area for a slight risk of severe thunderstorms. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
Today's storms will be isolated and many areas in East Texas will not see a drop of rain. However, any storm that does develop this afternoon has the potential to reach severe limits.
